| PETITION TO PROTECT
OUR RIGHTS IN THE OREGON OCEAN -- 09/17/07
Some of us support the idea of marine reserves; some do not. We all want to
keep the Oregon coast/ocean seafloor and Oregon beaches available to all
Oregonians.
Proposed Senate and House Bills as well as the media have
already shown detailed areas will be set aside for undersea frozen methane
research and development. In time, all public access to fish whether
commercially or for subsistence and even pleasure will be lost. Families
won't be able to take their families to picnic, play volleyball in the sand,
walk and in hand on the beach anywhere on the Oregon coast.
Losing our public right to access and enjoyment of our
beaches sets a precedent that will surely be followed in other areas now
available to the public. A legacy entrusted to us and for which we've paid
taxes to sustain for generations will be lost.
Hon. Tom McCall proposed this without including his constituents the public
- with no debate, no discussion of the larger picture. We oppose having this
Bill which benefits many large corporations and businesses at the expense of
the tax paying public. We sign below to keep Oregon Shores in as Oregon's
Territory and Keeping the vision of Former Gov. Tom McCall, Not to divide
our community's and public access's.

| Bill Introduced in Senate Reduces
Marine Debris -- 02/11/05
Honolulu (AP) -- Two U.S. senators from Pacific Rim states on
Thursday introduced a bill that would fund the removal of the thousands of
tons of ocean debris that wash up on U.S. shores each year.
Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, and Sen. Ted Stevens,
R-Alaska, said the bill is supposed to protect marine ecosystems and human
health from ocean-borne trash, namely discarded fishing gear, equipment
abandoned by commercial fleets and cargo that has washed overboard.
The measure would authorize $50 million over five years
for a debris prevention and removal program at the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration, and $25 million over five years to strengthen
Coast Guard enforcement of laws banning ship-based pollution.

| Study - Fish Consumption and Stroke
Risk in Elderly Individuals Investigators
of this cardiovascular health study conclude that among elderly individuals,
consumption of tuna or other broiled or baked fish is associated with lower
risk of ischemic stroke, while intake of fried fish or fish sandwiches is
associated with higher risk. These results suggest that fish consumption may
influence stroke risk late in life.
